SMT’s Fabrication department utilizes the latest innovations in technology and methods to provide a superior quality product.

We have fiber laser technology to process both thin and thick materials without a cutting lens change or manual setup. We have cutting power up to 9kW that optimizes the laser mode and Beam Parameter Product based on the material thickness being processed.

SMT’s programmable fiber optic and CO₂ laser cutting services eliminate expensive hard tooling and minimizes setup costs. Programming is done directly from CAD data. This state-of-the-art equipment cuts metal up to 1″ thick while maintaining tolerances at speeds of up to 1400 inches per minute.

SMT combines our operator’s expertise with the proper equipment to offer our clients top versatility for bending and forming.

SMT’s facilities feature Press Brakes ranging from 35 tons to 300 tons, with lengths ranging from 8′ to 14′ feet in length.

Our machines offer features such as:

• CNC Controls, which ensure ongoing part consistency.
• Back gauging for superior part positioning. (6-Axis).

SMT has earned its reputation as one of the premier manufacturers of large fabrications, weldments, and sub-assemblies. We would love to put our welding expertise to work for you.

Our national award-winning welding departments offer wire welding including GMAW (aka: MIG), GTAW (aka: TIG, Heliarc), Aluminum, Brazing, and Pulse Heliarc. SMT also provides spot, projection, and stud welding for metal cabinets and all types of small precision parts.

We train, test, and audit our personnel to ensure we excel in world-class welding techniques. In addition, we also utilize third-party calibration, monthly internal auditing, and regular upgrades to our state-of-the-art equipment, and robotic welding to ensure our capabilities are at peak quality.

SMT offers a state-of-the-art, production powder coating system designed to deliver superior results. The Nordson ColorMax® 2 quick color change powder spray system is optimized for efficient, repeatable powder application and 10-minute color changes with 98% reclaim.  The booth has 14 automatic guns and two manual decks.

Our 6-stage zirconium pretreatment is environmentally friendly and increases salt spray results to 1400 hours.  Our conveyer is robust and supports 100 lbs. per foot allowing large cabinets to run on the line with ease.  Our powder coating configuration is very flexible and able to accommodate most geometries and metal thicknesses.  We offer many colors with textured or smooth finishes to match our customers’ needs. All finishes are environmentally friendly and process-controlled per ISO-9001 quality standards.

SMT offers a manual paint booth and cure process able to support assemblies up to 10’x10’x25′.

SMT provides silk screening on fabricated items.  We have the ability to screen on a recessed surface and apply UV coatings for outdoor applications.  We burn our own screens in-house to ensure your product meets our exacting standards.

Our quality system is based on Continuous Improvement with ISO 9000:2015 as the base.  Although we are proud of our ISO Quality Systems, we know that Outgoing Quality takes more than just a certificate. It takes a team effort of well-qualified employees with the appropriate resources, empowerment, environment, and motivation to make the system work. SMT’s Quality staff is highly trained in the areas of Quality Planning, Metrology, Geometric Dimensioning, and Tolerancing. SMT’s quality department is equipped with measurement systems that are state-of-the-art in technology.
